What is Prophetic Revelation? -edited from the writings of Patricia King

Hey! You can prophesy! You may respond: "Me? I can't prophesy. Get real!" But I want you to know that you can. God says you can, and what's more, God's word says that God wants you to prophesy. It's not difficult if you know God.

First of all, we can receive revelation through the word of God and through the Spirit. To prophesy means simply to speak or to act on behalf of God. This means that when we speak or pray prophetically, we lay down our own imaginations, desires and concerns and depend on Him to show us what is on His agenda. He reveals to us what He would have us to speak or pray. In order to operate in this way we must first posture ourselves to hear from Him.

SOME OF THE WAYS THE HOLY SPIRIT USES TO SPEAK TO US:

1. Scriptures and Songs

2. Still, small voice

3. Pictures or impressions in our thoughts

4. Visions

5. Dreams

6. Words in our thoughts

All we have to do is tune our hearts into the Spirit of God, and then trust Him when we hear His voice!

We believe:

1. That all Godís people can hear His voice.

"But he that enters in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter opens; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out. And when he puts forth his own sheep, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers" John 10:2-5.

2. That we are to eagerly pursue spiritual gifts and especially the prophetic.

"Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy" 1 Corinthians 14:1.

3. That when we speak or pray prophetically we will learn and be exhorted.

"For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all may be exhorted" 1 Corinthians 14:31.

A PRAYER

Lord, in Jesusí name I believe that I am a child of God and that I have the ability to hear Your voice. I earnestly desire to prophesy and believe that I am able in Christ to do all things. I ask in bold faith for accuracy and ease in receiving and releasing prophetic insights from your word and from the Spirit. Thank you Lord.
